Between work and life in general, I've been swamped. So I know I need to write some things down to remember Hailey's milestones!
At her 1 year checkup, she weighed 20 lbs and was 29 3/4" (50% height and 25% in weight). She has 2 bottom teeth and can walk pretty well (but still chooses to crawl a lot of the time especially when she wants to get somewhere fast).
Here are some milestones and fun facts:
- She goes through stages of different sounds she likes to make. For a while she did tongue clicking. Then it was the "oooo" and now she likes to growl.
- It looks like she has at least one of her top teeth coming in
- She still loves dogs. We walk down to the dog park and she will crack up watching the little dogs run around and bark.
- When she crawls, she crawls normal unless the ground is rough or she is wearing a dress. Then she crawls on her feet and hands.
- She likes to look out the window in our living room
- She is terrified of the vacuum cleaner. We have to shut a door between she and the vacuum. If the door is open she will want to be held and start crying.
- She is terrified of swings. She starts wailing when we try to put her in a swing.
- She is entering the climbing stage. Scary!
- She loves spaghetti and can slurp the noodles
- She likes figuring out how things go together (putting stacking cups together, doing the ring stack) and likes to put things in cups or bowls
- She has figured out how to use a lot of her toys. It started with a hamster wheel toy with a hole to put balls in. I left her playing in the sun room a couple months ago and while peeking in on her I saw she figured out how to put the balls in. That got her going on figuring out other toys like the stacking rings.
- Lots of first in the last few months: first time swimming, first beach trip, first Lake Powell trip, first haircut, first Disneyland trip
- she loved the pool but prefers being held to being in a floating ring. She did pretty good with her life jacket in the pool
- Lake Powell was good once she got used to the new environment and recovered from the long drive. She didn't like going in the water because it was too cold for her. She got super clingy and only wanted me. She would melt down if I put her down and walked away so that made it super tiring for me.
- She did great at Disneyland. She took a 3 hour nap in her stroller and lasted until about 4pm. We took her on Dumbo, the carousel, the teacups, and a train in bug's land at California Adventure. We took her to play at the playground in Toon Town and in the California wilderness area. She kept climbing up a slide and slipping down. She would start laughing every time she slipped.
- Hailey, like any kid, loves to get dirty and play in dirt. We got her a sand box for the backyard for her birthday so she can have something clean to dig in!
- She sort of has said her first word "dog" - When she sees a dog she will say "daaa"
- She will say "mama" when she wants something (bottle, nap, etc.)
- She has the funniest belly laugh. She will do it when we play with her dog puppet and grab balls from her with the dog. We recorded her doing that and she loves watching that video even!
